Less Equals More In Social Media

An article found in the New York Times discusses how social media such as Twitter and Facebook can help the young writers in the upcoming generations develop clear and concise writing styles in a new and exciting way.

Overview:
Now this article is mainly directed at teachers who are trying to find new ways to teach their students in a fun and entertaining lesson that almost everyone can relate to. They use websites such as Twitter and Facebook as well text messaging to help students become more concise writers and get straight to the point of what they are trying to say.

My Comments:
This article comes up with great ideas to not only make it more enjoyable for students to learn about concise writing, but also by helping them not to summarize. There is a  warming up stage that is nice for the students so that they can get used to this different method of teaching and not just be thrown into it. Then the article goes on to give you four different activities: authentic writing, poetry, creative writing, and literature. Each one is a different genre in writing, and yet they all help the students in a way that can further their writing abilities in the long run. And if the reader is still confused or unsure about how it helps students, there is two lists that gives the readers the pros of language arts and technology by doing this assignment. I find this piece to be very well informed and I wish that we would have been able to do something like this when  I was in high school and/or my earlier college years. 4 out of 5 stars for me.
